I am missing work.  How do I make it up?
There are two ways that you can get missed work: first, is ask the teacher during
reading time (the beginning of class and the end of class is a bad time to ask for
missing work);  second,  is to stay for a teacher’s tutorials. (My tutorials are on
Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00.)  Tutorials are better because
the teacher can teach you any of the lessons you might have missed.
I do not understand an assignment. What should I do?
If you do not understand an assignment, you need to ask the teacher.  If not the
teacher , ask one of your classmates.  If all else fails, try your best to complete the
assignment the way you think it needs to be done, and turn it in.  If you still do not
understand the material, then you need to attend tutorials.  My tutorials are on
Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00.
I turned my homework in late.  Will I get points deducted?
The school policy states:

Pre-AP Classes: Homework will be accepted up to two days late day only for a
maximum grade of 50.  Projects, essays, test assignments after 2 days a maximum
grade of 50.

ELAR Classes: Homework will be accepted two days late day only for a maximum
grade of 70.  Projects, essays, test assignments… after 3 days a maximum grade of
50.

GT Policy: All homework is due on Mondays for GT students. Homework will be
accepted up to two days late day only for a maximum grade of 50.  Projects, essays,
test assignments after 2 days a maximum grade of 50.
What supplies should I bring to class?
You need to bring these things to class every day:

Loose Leaf paper,
pencils, pens, highlighters,
a purple folder with brads, and
two composition notebooks.
GT students will need to purchase or check out required reading books from
the library.
I turned in an assignment, but it is not listed in the grade book.
Check with your teacher.  She may have not put the grades online, or your paper
are: no name on paper, paper mislabeled, no labeling on the paper, paper was
turned in late, or paper was turned in at the wrong place.  Checking with your
teacher during reading time is the only way to be sure.
What are tutorials?
On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays the school provides a ride home on the Late
Bus.  The bus will drop you off at the elementary school campus that is nearest to
your house.
Tutorials are there to help you. Need to make up missing work?

Attend a tutorial and earn yourself a 70 instead of a fifty,
correct low grades,
help with papers and projects (both for English and other classes),
homework assistance,
reading group,
writing group,
preparing essays for contest submissions,
completion of homework in a safe quiet environment,
turning confusion into understanding by reteaching curriculum already
introduced to the class,
study and organization skills,
TAKS review groups (students will receive notification should they need to
attend these.

For students who sign up a snack is provided.  If you are not sure that you need to
attend ask Ms. Berry.
What if I can't find anyone to drive me home after a tutorial?
